The Collection of Dina Knapp

1947-2016

Born in Cyprus, raised in New York City, and educated at Pratt, Dina Knapp was an accomplished visual artist known for her fiber work and wearable art.

Dina and her husband, poet and professor, Jeffrey Knapp, collaborated on many creative projects, including combining poetry and visuals. The Knapps relocated to Miami Beach from New York in 1977 and were collectors of Haitian, Outsider and Folk Art. Fixtures in the Miami Art Scene, these vivid visionaries often hosted fabulous salon gatherings that hummed with passionate dialogue and creative characters. They enjoyed cultivating community and actively served it in meaningful ways.

After Dina passed peacefully in the fall of 2016, her family contacted the gallery to assist with finding new homes for part of her folk art collection. The artwork in this collection represents some of the most notable names in folk art circles.
