A stroke of luck, a chance discovery – Serendipity is the aptly named collection of work by St. Louis based folk artist, Theresa Disney. The show premiers Saturday, January 25th from 6-8pm at Jeanine Taylor Folk Art featuring the artist as the guest of honor. This will be Theresa’s 13th winter show at the gallery. Expect the unexpected and enjoy an evening of uplifting art.

Theresa Disney prefers to cast her acrylic paint on larger scale canvases – the sky’s the limit! Utilizing an array of media (craft paint, latex house paint, gesso, plaster, wood paste, and whatever else she can get her hands on) enables the artist to create a network of textured layers and colors that work in harmony.

Her subject matter often bounces from classical floral still lifes with a twist of whimsy to portraits of eccentric characters. Theresa Disney is known for her pet portraiture, choosing to showcase personality over realistic form.

Her work has appeared in several national publications and received numerous awards. Theresa was included in an ancillary show to the Peninsula Fine Arts Center’s Uncommon Visions exhibition. For her one of a kind creations, Theresa was selected as an American Original by More magazine and her charming home/studio space has been featured in Country Home.
