Hot Fun In the Summertime!
The swampy Florida heat has a head start this year and we are grateful to provide a series of summer programing and art collecting opportunities that can be enjoyed from within the cool climate of the gallery!
Take a look below to see what's goin' on...
Growing Your Collection
First off, the summer winds have brought in a trove of new artwork from familiar faces and a few new comers too! A romantic collection of “tarpestries” and other works by Tres Taylor have just arrived in the gallery from Alabama. His courting couples and monks, painted and carved on roofing tar paper (ergo the name, tarpestries) are ready to warm up any corner of your home. Want to learn more about Tres’ process? A Space For Young Artists
Our annual Summer Art Camp series starts next week and opens with a fabulous three-day middle school camp taught by Seminole County Teacher of the Year (2020), Gwenn Carter. Not only do these camps provide hands on learning through play and lessons uncommonly found during the regular school year, they also fill the gallery with a buzzing energy and new perspective. Sewing, sculpting, scavenger hunts, assemblage, painting, and more make for a raucously fun week!
Our second Summer Art Camp installment begins June 18th when the gallery is taken over by elementary grade artists led by local artist, Jeanette Comtois.
We still have limited space in both camps.
Call or email if you have a young artist interested in signing up!

A World Class Carver Returns
We are thrilled to announce LaVon Van Williams, Jr.’s long awaited return to the gallery for his first show in Florida since 2018! Join us for the opening reception, meet the artist, and experience the debut of I Want to Choose My Seat and Sit Down – New Carved Work.
Busy in his Lexington, Kentucky studio, LaVon chisels away at wooden slabs to reveal a dynamic range of subject matter – ancestral histories, Black culture, folklore, jazz icons, personal identity, and so much more. His work spans multiple decades and continues to serve as an example of deeply heartfelt social commentary.
This show has been several years in the making – mark your calendars!
Opening Reception and Artist Meet & Greet: Saturday, July 27, 6-8PM
Show Run: 7/27-8/31/24
