Pat Juneau's Spring Blooms Bring a Breath of Fresh Air!

JTFA's featured artist for the month of March is Pat Juneau! His vibrant and colorful metal cutouts capture the spirit of spring and new life the season brings.

Born in 1965 and raised in rural Louisiana, Pat Juneau recalls a childhood where making things was a natural response to being short on money. If you wanted something you couldn't afford, ingenuity paid off. His mother made quilts and clothes for the family and Pat soon put his own hands to good work.

He has crafted objects of beauty in many media (including custom jewelry, leather and wood), but once he cut and painted metal, he knew he'd found the right thing. "It was like an a-ha experience when I painted bright colors on cut out metal. Art is like writing a story. You write what you know. My metal work just keeps evolving."

Pat feels strongly that his work is a way of protecting and preserving his Louisiana roots. In many of his metal cut-outs, exuberant dancers and musicians reflect life to a Cajun beat.

Pat's work has been purchased by numerous regional museums and is also in the personal collection of artist Robert Rauschenberg.

We are swinging into spring with our favorite neighbors for an evening of specialty wines, art, crafts, fashion, and live music for a good cause. Guests can flow between Jeanine Taylor Folk Art and Magpies Modern General for a festive celebration to benefit the Theater West End.

A tasty sampling of specialty wine will be provided courtesy of Ellen’s Wine Room along with a bubble bar. Guests can enjoy a roaming fashion show, a derby hat craft competition, and more all set to the smooth stylings of local songstress - Megan Katarina.

This is a private event and the gallery will be closed to the public on Friday, 4/12 from 6-8pm.

Cecel Allee's Pop Up Show and Workshop art Canceled.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the gallery must cancel Cecel Allee's upcoming pop up show and workshop. We will work with Cecel to reschedule the event to a future date. Once the show is back on our books, we will be sure to get the word out. Stay tuned!
